Frequent Questions

How long does it take to clean up a hazardous waste site?

The amount of time it takes to clean up a hazardous waste site depends upon the risk it poses to human health and the environment, the volume, extent, type and location of the contamination, and the cleanup alternative that is selected. For example, sites that require the removal of barrels to eliminate an explosion or fire can take only a few hours, where as a site where a long-term action is feasible can take many years.
